One of the biggest reasons is to avoid risk of lawsuits if someone is hurt. Second, accidents cut down on working time. Thirdly, property and merchandise could be damaged during mishaps. Most mishaps are attributed to workers who are not well trained. Employers are responsible for making sure that all workers who are using the forklift are trained in risks and safety. Never let anyone on a forklift who isn't correctly trained to operate the forklift. Your business should develop and post in a place which is visible all forklift safety measures.
Staff should have a positive attitude when they go through training, instead of doing it just because they are required to. You as the employer must help staff know the importance of proper training. Let them understand that they could injure or kill not just themselves, but other people, if they make mistakes. It is up to you to ensure that your employees undertake training seriously.
