Types of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of machine which allows workers to carry out tasks without having to construct a scaffolding. They are used to do maintenance work, to work on elevated structures and are common machines found in factory and warehouse settings as well.
Typically, construction lifts offer powered and wheeled bases which are capable of driving to the work location and have a platform on them which is responsible for elevating workers. There are a lot of different types of lifts and every one is suitable to different tasks and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks, which are often referred to as "cherry-pickers", carry a long boom which has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where a worker may stand. Commonly, bucket trucks are utilized by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers often use these machinery to cut trees.
Every bucket truck has a boom assembly mounted to a standard truck, that enables these vehicles to move fast on regular roads. What's more, this increases the area that this machine could service efficiently. This is particularly essential for power companies. Like for example, many of these companies utilize cherry pickers to lift workers up so they could work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets must be inspected on a regular basis and insulated properly since they are working near potential shock hazards.
Articulated booms lifts or knuckle lifts have a work platform mounted to an arm which can bend and reach obstacles. The base of the lift includes a turntable and is capable of turning the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.
Articulated boom lifts are used for landscaping projects and are useful for maintenance work on already-finished projects that do not need easy access to the area directly below the jobsite. These lifts can be used to repair piping or exterior electrical work, and difficult to clean areas. Often knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the extended boom.
