Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by a variety of sources. They could run from liquid propane or LP gas, gasoline, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for many applications. There are several facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled whenever they require. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders that could be changed out when the machine must be refueled.
So as to avoid potentially serious injury, specific safety measures must be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. Like for example: be certain to wear the appropriate safety equipment like heavy gloves, goggles or safety glasses. Make sure that you turned off the forklift ignition before changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed securely. Utilize your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it would turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use any type of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
