Forklift Truck Training
Prior to becoming qualified as an operator, training on a forklift or an industrial-powered lift truck is required. This type of training is often modified to the specific kind of equipment, individual facility and any machine attachments to be utilized by the operator. It is important to have safety foremost on the mind of the trainee or the trainer.

General Qualifications
For those who would like to operate a forklift, they need to be at least 18 years old and have the physical capability to safely control and operate the type of machine they are training for. Prior to assuming any operator duties, all operators need to be correctly trained.

Pedestrian Safety
When a pedestrian stuck by the machine, this can lead to one of the most common kinds of injuries related to using forklifts. Operators of forklifts are required to always yield to pedestrians and utilize their horns when approaching any crosswalk, pedestrian area or intersection.

Weather Conditions
Loading docks are among the most hazardous places to utilize a lift truck. When rain filters in through dock doors which are open, the floor could become very dangerous and slippery. It is important for operators of forklifts to take these situations into consideration when working in these kinds of environments.

Certification
Both hands-on exercises and classroom instructions must be completed in order to become a certified forklift operator. This particular type of training could be adjusted to meet all the requirements of every type of workplace; for instance, incorporating the various attachments which would be used on that particular jobsite and every specific type of machinery.

Accidents
Unfortunately about 100 people are killed each and every year in forklift accidents. Moreover, there are roughly 100,000 who are injured. With safe operation of the machines and correct forklift training, most of these injuries could be prevented all together.
