Hyster Container Forklift Alabama

Hyster Container Forklift Alabama

Amongst Hysters main safety concerns is safety. It is the reason why they provide many pieces of optional safety equipment which can be incorporated to either the work site or the machinery itself. Following the standards of OSHA, Hyster makes head and work lamps in addition to both audible and visible warning devices.

The only warning device needed on the lift truck according to OSHA and ASME B56.1 regulations is the steering wheel horn. The horn is basic on all types of forklifts. Though forklifts are not required to have visible or audible warning devices, there are a few conditions where optional warning devices may be appropriate. These factors are unique to each and every work place or work site and each condition must be considered individually.

Motion alarms or back-up alarms are the most common safety devices. The noise produced by these alarms are the main thing to take into account. First of all, the audible device must be able to be distinguished from other noises in the work site and the sound must be loud enough to be heard in the work location, even if other equipment may be functioning. The ability for employees to hear alarms and know where the sound is coming from could be compromised if employees wear hearing protection devices. If the alarms are very disruptive or offensive to employees, nearby residents, or nearby businesses, alarms might need to be disabled. If noise should be disabled, this must be able to happen readily. Rules must also be followed to make sure that noise levels do not exceed OSHA noise limits.

For visible safety devices, most commonly strobe, rotating, or flashing lights, numerous points should be considered and thought should be put into whether visible safety devices might be more appropriate than audible devices. Operator distraction, workplace lighting and presence of reflective surfaces are top priorities to consider to ensure that safety devices are effective and do not pose a danger to drivers or other employees. Safety light colours should be different from other lights and background surfaces which are within the work site. Position of safety devices are very important. Lights should be able to clear any overhead obstacles. Light positioning should not cause the lights to shine or reflect into the eyes of the driver, but shielding of the lights should not excessively obstruct the light's visibility to pedestrians.

Hyster has a range of optional lights to meet numerous application needs including weather-resistant LED and halogen lights which hold up through shock and vibration as well. When it comes to work lamps and head lamps, OSHA has set standards to make working at night or in dark work areas safer. Directional lighting is required if the forklift lighting produces less than 2 lumens per square foot. Hyster has lots of options which would help increase visibility in low-light situations.
