Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm that is located on a rotating turntable. Normally, telescoping boom lifts are used for jobs that require reaching at maximum height, exceeding other kinds of lifts. Like for instance, employees can perform exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but using these lifts as opposed to having the additional work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold a single person. These buckets are more suitable to specific tasks such as electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available with both indoor and outdoor tires and come in electric and gas configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces below the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. Because these types of machines should be directly positioned under the work location, these units are way more limited in their use compared to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, however, offer bigger platforms that enable the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a concern with these types of machines, since they have to sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for cladding or window installation, as they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a great alternative for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Bucket trucks, cherry pickers and boom trucks each refer to the class a type of utility vehicle used particularly for vertical work. Generally, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand in addition to a winch for lifting and an actuator arm for raising the boom.
Boom trucks take employees to heights which would normally be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy supplies or equipment from one place to another. There are different kinds of cranes which could perform various purposes. Both of these different kinds of equipment excel at various jobs and are suitable for specific applications and accomplishing particular tasks.
